LAND NATIONALISATION.
[BY TKLKORAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.]
Hokitika, this day. IS Mr Fitzgerald, M.H.K., both at Rosa and 1 here, spoke strongly against land & nationalisation, and said freehold was the m besttenure for the prosperity of the country 4, and was what was attracting men to the H colony. He argued that the Legislature phoulel either limit the area which anyone - man could hold, or should impose a pro- . gressivo tax on holdings above a certain area. He preferred the former plan, but had no objection to limited agricultural land being leased by tho Crown, but was sure "! that system would break down if any attempts were made to push it too far. •l.«s|
