SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

A man named William I'ooley, while engaged in assisting to discharge the ship Brenhilda this morning, met with a rather serious accident. Thrco bars of railway iron were beine hoisted from the vessel's hold, and whon over tho wharf the sling (an iron chain) carried away, and the iron fell out. Ono of tho bars struck Poolcy on the head and arm, and his injuries proved of so serious a character that Captain Ncnring at onco procured a cab and had tho man conveyed to the Hospital. Medical examination showed that Pooloy's left arm was broken, and that ho had sustained a deep cut on tho head just above tho temple. His injuries woro duly attended to.
