Important Find of Gold,
Thames, this day.—Great excitement prevails hero in consequence of an important discovery in the Deep Level Cross mine. At the 040 feet level, the loador which was passed through in tho rise a few weeks ago, was to-day intersected in tho Seaward crosscut, nt a distance of 28 feet from tho main drive. It is about Synches thick, and similar in formation 'M^tliat found in tho rise. Only a few pSilds of stone have yet been broken, but colours of gold have been seen, and the indicatioust are of a higher encouraging character. Shares are quoted at advanced prices. Tho Lato Poisoning Cose. Wellington', this day.—Mr Skey, Govornment Analyst, reports that ho found sufficient arsenic in tho stomach of Olga Stonnes<o to kill nn adult human being. He also reports that Rough on Rats "is almost wholly composed of arsenic. WaNGAOTI, this c\ay.—A son of Mr Arthur Filmcr's was suffocated by falling into an uncovored cesspool this morning. Dukedik, yesterday.—George Wiatt lias been committed for trial for fraudulent insolvency. In Joseph Macky's caso, Mr Stout, for tho defence, commented on the extraordinary conduct of the Insurance Department in having accused arrested on warrant while out on bail. He said that it was because Macky had chosen to tell tho Treasurer that the" Department was rotten and had left the service to act as collector for a rival insurance department these proceedings had been instituted. Accused was remanded to appear at Geraldino on Thursday noxt. ________________
