It i.-i understood the local Executive Council of the New Zealand Riilo Association have invited His Excellency Sir Wm. Jcrvois to open the prize-tiring meeting to bo held in Auckland in February. ° At the Dunodin Kille Association McelinoGunner Murray, of tho Navale, made 91 out of a possible century at 200 and ;>OO yards lhere were 71 competitors. Tlie memorial tombstone, in memory of the lato Major Withers, has been completed, and placed over the grave in the Church of England Cemetery. The stone has the following inscription : —" To the memory of Major E. Wither?, late of H.M.S. Goth Regiment, who died May 20th, ISB3, an-ed i G years; having served 40 years in the Imperial and 20 years in the Colonial Service. Erected as a, mark o£ esteem to their late commanding officer by his comrades of the Auckland Yolunteor District."
