Tho French Insult to Spaln.-Klng Alfonso Implacable.

Madrid, October 10.

It lian transpired that a demand was made to tho French Government for further reparation than that already accorded by President Grevy's apology for the insult offered to King Alfonso in Paris. The demand having been refused by the French Government, King Alfonso required that further action should be taken in the matter, but the Spanish Ministry have now boon unable to agree that such a course is necessary. Tho Premier, Senor Sagasta, has tendered to His Majesty tho resignation of himself and colleagues.

Paris, October 10.

Accounts to hand from the vinegrowing provinces are generally favourable. It is expected that the vintage this year will be fully up to the average yield.

The Aborigines Protection Society have directed tho attention of Lord Derby to tho recent cruise of the labour vessel Fanny, and to the charges made by Mr M. E. Morrison, the explorer, of the revolting treatment to which the native women of Polynesia have been subjected, and Lord Derby has requested the Governments of Queensland and Fiji to report upon the matter.
