SALVATION ARMY MEETING.

Presentation of Colours,

Theke was again a crowded meeting of Salvationists at the Theatre Royal last evening, the puce de resistance beine the presentation of colours to the Auck land corps. Major Barker, who presided, delivered a stirring address, and was followed by Major Pollard, who announced that tho " canaries" that had been promised on the previous evening were little slips of canary-coloured paper on which were printed promises to contribute towards the building fund of new barracks in this city. The Major announced that already £/0 had been promised. The papers were distributed amongst the audience, and it was subsequently announced that alto gether about £l"0 had been promised Major Barker stated that the property would be vested in the names of independent gentlemen aa trustees for the Salvation Army, and not in the name of General Booth. One feature of the meeting was the address of Cadet Foley on his experiences in tho training home at Melbourne. A number of " testimonies " were then given, amongst those testifying being a young man named Parker, who announced that ho was the "Hallelujah cab-driver." Thero being loud cries for the " Hallelujah cook " a personage in the dress circle rose and announced himself to be that individual. Major Barker summoned Captain Johnny Bowerman and Lieut. Lines to the front and presented to them the colours, amidst plaudits and volleys of "Amen" and "Praise the Lord." The colours were to have been presented by Mrs Barker, but she unfortunately had been detained by illness in Wellington, This evening Captain Bowerman will take his farewell at St. James's Hall.
