ThobrigMoa. from Kaipara for Dunedin, put into Lyttelton short of provisions yesterday, and sailed again In tho ovening. The schooner Atlantic cleared at the Customs to-day lor Rarotonga. Passengers: Messrs If, E. Jones, Jenning, Ngaro, and Kopitu. The s.s. Glenelg left Tauranga at 4.10 p.m. yesterday, and arrived at Auckland at C a.m. to-day. Passengers: Mr and Mrs Minchin nnd child, Mr and Mrs Wrigloy, Miss Maunsell, Misa McCormick, Mrs Parkinson, Mrs Kooncy, Messrs Burko, Lang, England, Lee Sing, Mackay, Pludell, Judge, Wilson, Frasor, Crook. Cargo : 150 sacks maize, 5 sacks gypsum.
Tha steamers Omaporo and Glenelg. having loft Tauranga last ovening, both bound for this port, an interesting race was anticipated. At 3.15 tho Omapere got undoi-weigh, and 55 minutos later the Glenelg followed. Both steamers appeared round the North Head at 6 o'clock this morning, and came up the harbour together, so that thoso who were on the Glenolg claim having beaten the Oinapero by nearly an hour. It is stated ou tho latter, however, that after midnight she went halfspeed and then dead slow, as tho captain was not desirous of arriving bofore daylighU The 3.5. Omapero left Port Chalmers on September 18th, at 10 p.m.; Oamaru on the 19th, at 11 p.m.; Timaru on the 2oth, at 3.56 p.m.; Napier on tho 2ith, at 1 p.m.; Gisbonie on the 25th, at 9.30 0.m., calling at Te Reparoa to land Sir George Whitmoro, and arrived at Tauranga on the 26th, at 12 noon, sailing from Tauranga samo day, and arriving at Auckland at 0 a.m. .on the 27th September. Experienced fine j weathor up to arrival. Passengers—Mossrs 4, Wood, Ngata, Bourko, Stnpng, Grey, and Gold--1 smith. The s.s. Omapero Arrives in charge of Captain Hutchlnson, who loaves her in Auckland to join the s.f. Suva—Captain Allman, of the Southern Cross, taking his place. We are indebted to Mr Jas.
