A si'kciai, ond well-attended meeting of the Fiio Brigade was held l(>st evening, when it \yas resolved:—"That there is no illfeeling existing between the members of the Brigade and tho Salvage Corps, and that both bodies have always worked together in lighting the common enemj —file. Also, that this Brigade is of opinion that the action taken by Superintendent Hughes in stopping parties from removing Mr Y\*illiams's Furniture was justifiable, seeing that his orders had been sot at defiance Had his order been obeyed in ihe first, instance, the •\cckient which occurred to Captain Field would not have happened. Mr Williams having asked the advice of Superintenduit Hughes as to the desirability of removing his furniture, was answered to the effect that it was not necessary, and that no.fchjiijf was to bo removed cut of his house."
