MR HODGSON'S CHALLENGE.
(To the Editor.)
SiK,— Seeing that Mr Hodgson will not enter into an oral debate on the subject of Conditional Immortality, 1 am willing to debate -with him through the Pre?s on the following conditions :—(1) I will issue an extra number of the "Bible Standard," and publish it on the Saturday of each week for six weeks, providing Mr H. will guarantee half the cost; (2) each issue to contain the affirmative and negative, or if Mr H. knows of any weekly paper which would admit a discussion on the subject, my objections in part will be met. Personally, I have no fear that truth will suffer from an opponent, however much thought and meditation he may bring to bear against it in the qniet of his study. Apart from the time it would entail in discussing the object through a monthly, there are other reasons well known to those who are acquainted wi h publishing a paper, I am not overstating when I say that before the discussion bad gone on six months through a monthly, the subscriber would get tired and enter protests and the general public would have lost all interest; therefore the circulation would safFer accordingly. This is a fast age, nnd people soon grow tired with anything slow. If men are to be imposed, it must bo done with the least possible expenditure upon iheir time or attention ; therefore, if Mr H. c«n bring the discussion through the Press within the limits indicated, I accept the challenge,— Yours, &c, Gko. A, Bbown,
