Old Hands.—Mary Ann Derrick and Eliza McGinn wero charged under tho Vagrant Act with having no lawful means of a livelihood.— Derrick pleaded not guilty j she waa housekeepor to Bill Knox, of Freeman's Bay.—Remanded until to-morrow for Bill's appearance. —Sorgeants Clarke and Gamble gave- evidonoe to show that Eliza Mcdlnu had led an immoral lifo for oightoon years. Sergeant White put in a list of forty two conviotions against tho prisoner.—Nino months' imprisonment. Prohibition ORDEB.-Mr Dovore applied for an order to prevent publicans from supplying intoxicating liquors to John Hunter, a ournor. —Robert Garrett, George Harper, and Thomas Walker doposed to the intemperate habits ot Hunter at tho Whau. He had beon drnnk every day for a number of years, — Order granted. Tub Eviction Case —Tho oharge against Patriok Hennessey, Michael Casey, and Murtagh Donoghue, for unlawfully and with force demolishing »nd pulling down a dwellinghouse in tho Catholio Cemetery, built of mud and timber, in the oooupation of Bridget Walsh, camo on for hoaring to day.—Mr Lusk appeared for the prosecution, and asked that the case mluht bo allowed to stand over until Monday when there would be no furthor hindranoe.— Mr Mahonoy offered no objection, and the hear ing was accordingly adjourned.—Defendants woro again admitted to bail. Beating a Wipe.—John Scarborough of Domingo Torrace, Parnell, charged with violently assaulting his wife, was remandtd for furthor evidence. Tim Assault Case.-William Small, Frank Ryan, Albert Wright, and David Home, charged with assaulting and robbing John Carroll of the sum of £3 9s on the 2nd inst,, were remanded until the 11th inst.
CnAKQES Against Seamen.—William Barnes, and Thomas Baldie were charged with a breach of tho Cusroms Laws Consolidation Act, by being concerned in unsh pping a quantity of tobacco from tho s. s. Tarawora. — After a lengthy trial, the Bench fined tho men In the mitigated penalty of £23 each. Adulterated Rtjm. — Charles Frederick Russell and John Gallagher were charged with orrencos under the Adulteration of Food Act— The cases were adjourned in order to be taken before the Resident Magistrate.
