The cholera epi^o'viecontinues to spread in an alarming manner in this city, but accounts to hand from Cairo and elsewhere state that the disease has greatly decreased, and hopes are entertained that its further spread has been completely checked.
THEIMPEtIAL MEETING.
BEKHN, August 8.
The meeting which has been arranged between the Emperor William and the Emperor Francis Joseph will take place at Ische, in Upper Austria, and not Gastein, as first announced.
A Nihilist Outrage,
St. PETERSBURG, August 8.
A bomb was exploded to-day, in a street of this city, but although there were numbers of people about at the time, no one was injured. The perpetrators of the outrage were not detected.
'Xhe Irish Informers Detained - The Imperial Government 'lake Charge of Ihem.
SYD.-EY, August 8. In accoi dance with instructions which hare been received here from the Homo Government, the Irish informers will be removed from the steamer I'athan and placed aboard 11.M.5. Kelson, pending the completion of the arrangements which are being made for their departure.
LONDON, August 7. Xhe Irish officials now state that they bamboozled the Colonial Office with regard to the transportation of the informers, and it is believed that the bovernment had arranged to tranship them elsewhere. Mr' Murray Srniih, Agent-General for Victoria, has now in a vigorous despatch urged uppn Lord Derby the objections of the coloDiei against receiving criminals or connivers, and he also demands protection for the colonies aga'nst French transportion of criminals to the Pacific Islands.
THE SPANISH INSURRECTION,
MADRID, August 7,
Tho revolutionary agitation which for some days past has been actively manifested at Badajoz and in the surrounding districts, is now rapidly subsiding, and tranquility has been rt stored. It is not expected that any further outbreak of disloyalty will occur at tho present time.

In the House of Commons to-day, Mr Gladstone announced that in the course of a recent note regarding the progress of military and judical reform in Egypt, Lord Dufferlu reported that tbe reorganisation of the Egyptian army was now nearly complete. The reconstruction of tbe civil polica force had, however, proved a more difficult matter, and was in a more backward condition ; and that a fair body of judges had been secured for the administration of justice in tho nativo law courts.

Macdermott, an American Fenian, has arrived in Liverpool. It is mentioned that » conspiracy is alloat to murder the officials in Ireland.
The largest of the torpedo boats being constructed for the Victorian Government will be launched at Elswick on the 18th instant. The launch will be performed by Mrs Childers.
Mr Fawcett, Postmaster-General, has waived his objections to the Orient mail contract, and says the final decision rests with the Government of New Suuth Wales.
