Elizabeth Thomson, charged with tho robbery of a sum of money from a coloured man named Eastwood, residing in Cambridge West, was brought before Mr Thos. Wells, J.P., at tho KM. Court to-day. 6 b the information did not ardve from Auckland, where it had been sent, the case was remanded till Thursday.

. NELSON, this day. A young man named Frank Hodpon, against whom a warrant was issued in October last, on a charge ot embezzling £500 from the National Bank in 1881, has been arrested, and was charged beforo the Magistrate this morning and remanded, fie evaded the police for a long time, but was eventually captured in the neighbourhood of Pelorns Sound.
A lad named Holland had his thumb and palm of his right hand shattered by a explosion of half a pound of gunpowder with which he and five other boys were playing.
WELLINGTON, this day.
Mr Shaw denies the rumour that ho has withdrawn from the Inangahua contest, and states that he leaves for the Coast this afternoon.
PALMERSTON NORTH, this day.
Jessop and Peck havo determined not to pay the fines in the. illicit still cases, to prevent the polico receiving the reward. On leaving Palmerston for Wanganui gaol thoy were cheered by a number of sympathisers, prominent among whom were several witnesses for the Crown. The intention of those implicated is to give Peck and Jessop the amount of their fine on coming out of gaol. 1

At the Port Chalmers Police Court this morning Robert Waedrop was committed for trial for stabbing John Thomson.
