Mrs. Linton's School.
The break-up of Mrs Linton's school, Pevonport, was held yesterday afternoon in the Odd'eUows' Ball, and largely attea« • ded by pupils and parents. As the first annual break-up in connection with Mrs Liuton's school, much interest was_ felt in . th-i pleassrable event. The previous ex-feSf aminatians) were conducted by the Ee?i Jofeph Bates, uf the Holy Trinity parish, a>d liw report of the 'ame given in. Mr Bit.s exn essed his tratifKation with the f, p ipera which had been fsubmitted by the pupi:s, »nd particularly remarked upon the : excellence of the penmanship. The prizes wrre distributed as follows (oy the . examiner):—Fiist p;izes: For Latin, Bertha ■ Bartle.v ; for English, Arthur Koberton; for arithmetic given by the Rev, Mt Bates), Olive Russel ; for trench, Lily Gilmer. A special prize for good conduct during the past twelve month?, by Mrs McKellar, web awarded to Nelly Bates; 1 and c ne for diligence and application, to Edith Gardner. Mr Bate» then presented, on behalf the pup'ls, a handeome china basket and framed card to Mrs linton, . as a token of thoir esteem and appreciation, The remaining hours were devoted to re< ■ freshment?, music, dancing, games, and :;i go^ss, in which the pupils acquitted themselves in a manner which elicited honest praise from frionds and visitors.
