The " Times," referring to the matter, says:-"From ocular demonstration we aro in a position to affirm unhesitatingly that corporal punishment of a very cruel nature was indicted on at least one lad,and we henr of five more, attending tho distict school last Friday. This Jad wo have examined. His flesh ia terribly lacerated, and his father has, wo believe, written to Captaiu Tonka, chairman of tho District School Committee, demanding an investigation into tho whole matter. Pending this enquiry, wo do not intend to make public nil the information in ourpo sc3'ion, but we considtr ourselves warranted in coinrnuiding tliC immediate suspension of the master. Tho parents of children injured were with difficulty dissuaded fiom <aking cut summon-cs against the teacher."
