PONSONBY FANCY DRESS BALL.

Ths Ponsonby "At Home" Fancy Dress \ Ball took place last evening, and proved a great success. Although the weather was very unfavourable, fuUy fifty coupl.B were; present, and dancing was engaged in until;' an early hour this morning. MrEady's string band was in attendance and discoursed, excellent music during the even* ing. The catering was done fay Mr C. i Canning in his usual satisfactory style, ' All arrangements for the ball were in the hands of the following ladies and - gentlemen, who formed a committee of management, aad deserve, great credit for the success achieved.-— Mesdames Bondman, Cevorc, Evan?, E. Lewis, Masefield, F. Quick, Misses H. George, Hill, Harrison, M, Kelly, Messrs * Boardman, Cunningham, Devote, Evans, 7 W. F. Jones, E. Lewis, C. Macindoe, ■ Masefield, aud F. Quick. .Among the--, costumes worn were some very pretty and i original in character. MrO, B. Waymouth'. was so ptrfectly disguised as a Corsair that' even his friends failed to recognise him. His was the most attractive and striking "getup" among^tho gentlemen. Miss, Kigby represented "Snow" very effectively, and woto one of the prettiest cos- ,> tumes of the evening.
