A Maori deputation, hearing a petition addicted to the Queeu, were to-day granted an inUrview by Earl Kimberley, and were introduced to his Lordship by the Right Rev. A, B. Suter, Bishop of Nelaou. Sydney Taiwhanga and Hare Mangahaka explained at length the grievances of the natives of New Zealand, and presented thair petition. _ The Secretary of State for the Colonies stated, in reply, that he could only tiausmit the memorial to the Government of xnow Zealand, aud request the opinion of ihe Colonial Executive as to the allegations made by the petitioners.

ALBANY, July 19.

The P. and 0. steamship Ravenna, with the inward mails via Suez and Brindisi, dated London, June 16th, arrived in King George's Sound, this morning. London advices of that date, to hand by the mail, say that tho con»ignment of mutton, ex ship Dunedin, from New Zealand, caused considerable excitoment in the Home markets. The quality of tho meat was excellent, prime parts of the carcasses being sold, by retail, to the butchers, at lOd per lb. When the mail left, an angry controversy was proceeding in the metropolitan journals bstween the landed proprietors, whose inter*sta are endangered, and the butchers, with ragard to the price of meat, and the facility which tha rapid development of the frozen provision trade affords to persons of limited income to ebtain colonial meat of good quality at reasonable prices.
