CUSTOMS SEIZURE AT RUSSELL.

Information was received in town this afternoon of an Important seizure of contraband goods at Kusaell, Bay of Islands. It would appear the information was givon to the Customs officer there- Mr E. JtJ. Laing - and to Coustable McQovern that the American whaler Adelina Gibbs had on board a quantity of tobacco not mentioned in the ship's manifest. The two officials went on board aud discovered 406tbs of tobacco, particulars of which had not beon entered on the manifest, as prescribed by law. Tho t»bacco was seized, and will piobubly be conUscatiid. We made enquiries at the Custom-house to-day, but tho local aatho rities had received uo information of the seizure.
