THE OPPOSITION.
Montgomery Elected Leader,

WELLINGTON, this day. AT the Opposition caucus this forenoon, 30 W^re present and 17 accounted for. A resolution was put " That a leader be ap. pointed." An amendment that the time is inopportune to appoint a leader was also put, aud the motion was carried. It was then moved that Mr Montgomery be leader, and was carried by three-fourths of those pre sent, Grey's personal friends .dissenting. It was subsequently urged that notwithstanding the difference of opinion on the question of leadership, all would unite on any direc vote of want-of-confidence.
