Meeting of tuk Buicbiaykrs' jSocikty.
A JIEKTING of tho Bricklayers' Association, for the purpose of considering a proposal to devoto a portion of the funds of the society t) the Eight Hours Demonstration was hchl lift evening at the Working Men's Club, There were upwards of twenty present, and Mr Chambers occupied the chair.
Mi Smith moved, "That each member of the tocicty contribute 2j Cd towards the demonstration." He spoke strongly against any money hciug voted from the funds of tho Bricklayers' Society.
Mr Leydon seconded the motion pro forma, though be did not ogree to it. He was in favour of voting £5 from the funds of tho society.
Mr Mell moved, as au amendment', "Tbat£s bo voted from the funds of tha society for the expenses of tbe Eight Hours Demonstration."
Mr Morrow seconded,
Mr Crouch spoke in support of the amendment. He said be had received £1 each from MeEsrs Moss, Tolc, and J. McCoth Clark, and 10a from Mr Swanson, besides other prizes. Messrs Hunter, Guird, Leydon, and Simpson spoko in favour of the amend- > ment, which was carried with one dißseaU Mr' leydon moved, " That the sum ojtf just voted be sent to the Sporte .
