SUPPRESSION OF POLYGAMY. WASHINGTON, March 14.
A Bill providing for the abolition of polygamy iv the United States, has been finally passed by Congress, Br Lamson Sentenced to Death. LONDON, March 14. The trial of T. F. Lamson, surgeon, who was arrested on the charge of poisoning his brother-in-law, Percy Malcolm John, at Wimbledon, in December last, conclude-to-day. The accused was found guilty of murder, and sentenced to death.
RADICAL MOVE IN FAVOUR OF SUSPECTS. LONDON, March 14. The leaders of the Radical party iv the House of Commons and outside are agitating, with the object of inducing tho Govern, raent to order some mitigation of the prison treatment of "suspects" who are in custody in various gaols in Ireland, NEW GKEEK MINISTRY. LONDON, March 14. Her Majesty the Queen left Windsor Castle to-day for Mentone, in the South of France. COMMERCIAL. Consols, 100?. New Zealand securities: 5 per cent. 10-40 loan, 103_, ex dividend; 5 per cent, 1889 loan, 104.; 4J per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 102. Colonial breadstuff's are dull at unchanged quotations, viz.:—-Ade-laide wheat, ex warehouse, 535; New Zealand ditto, 49«; Adelaide flour, ex store, 38s; Australian tallow is dull at 40s for best beef, and mutton at 455. Beat Scotch pig iron, No. 1, free on bosrdon the Clyde, quoted at 50 per cent., an advance of Is. WOOL SALE. At to-day's wool auction there was an active demand for most descriptions. Bjooo bales were catalogued.
