MINING NEWS.

JOST-IN-TiME.—The tender of Mr E. W. White (£llO-) has been accepted for sinking the shaft and cutting and fixing timbers, and a start was to havo been mado yesterday, The size will be 12 x 4. It ia expected that tho shaft Will go down at an averoge rate of 12 to 15 feet per week.— Jamks Thomas.

Kurunui *HliiL United G.M.Co., (Limited).— I beg leave to submit the following report of work done in your mine during the paßt week, vis. :—Junction : Driving and stoping Ib still being continued on the lode (which has juttctioned with the No. 4 iecf, which has not been worked in this quarter). The stone in the drive looks bettor than anything I have mot with yot on this level, colour., of gold having been met with all along tbe drive, a distance of over 80ft. ; and from tho face of tho leader being heavily charged with the minerals accompanying gold, promises well for the blocks above and below the level. In order to get as much quarte out as possible for tbe next crushing, I have put tho main portion of the wages-men stoping on the lode, and from tbe appearance of the stone it ought to give a satisfactory return. Kelly's: Iha i 0 only had two men engaged here stoping the lode, consequently not much work has been done, and there is no change to report. Young American: Two men engaged here ; no change to report. Albion Crosscut: Contractors havo cut a small vein heavily charged with mineral, but no gold shewing, Country still favourable as ever for gold, Battery: Crushing will be commenced on Tuesday morning if possible, —THOS. H. CRAWVojrD, Mine Manager.

Success.—Since my lost report I have obtained 12ozs of specimen gold, which I forwarded by steamer on Saturday. In tbe north stop, the gold has been more regular —in every breaking down there is some met with. The main level South of the reef has changed its course more to the South. Some good-looking stone has come in, and good indications of making gold at any moment. In the low level there is no change since last report,—Pktkr Kkid.
