Mahurangi Heads Regatta.
The Mahurangi Heeds Regatta took • place on Monday, the schooner Mariner being used as flagship. Captain Kaspcr officiated as starter, and performed his ; duties in a vary satisfactory manner. The various events,which had finished up to the . ■ time of the Rose Casey's departure for Auckland, resulted as follows:—Four competitors started in the. Scullers' Knee, the event being won rather easily by Morrison . in the Annie. The race for "four-oared kcel-boats,2O feet overall" resulted in a win for the Gipsy (Sullivan) as against the Comet and Kobo Anne. A protost,however, has been entered, on the ground that the former was over the described length. The Double-handed Keel-boat Bace was contested by the Comot (Snell) and Kote Anne, and won by the former. The v race for Sculling Boats, 20ft. Overall, secured four starters, and was won by the Blanche (Dunning), after a very close con* 1 test. There were three entries for the Flat-bottomed Sailing Boat JRace, tks Swan proving the winner. Four boats started in the contest for Opon Sailing Boats, 15ft. Overall, the event resulting in a win for the Aran, sculled by Hallantyne, with Mew Year second. The Ladies' Falling Kace resulted: Misa Scott and Mm* Darrach, 1; Mrs Lowrie and Miss KasP«i 2 j Mrs Rasper and Mrs Dawson, 3. Toe Boys' Pulling Kace was not finished whenthe Rose Casey left,but Sullivan was leading about a length and a half ahead, being kept hard at work by two other t»m» petitors.
