Here are two verses, evidently penned by a man who abhorred total abstinence, and whose life was quite'consistent with his principles. One gets a kind of maudlin sense of his meaning, but the language, as well as the man, leans against a lamp-post .for support : ■ The man I liko's the sort of man A man can trust, you un'eratan'. ~ ; 1 call that man a man, you know; Ho is a man,' Precisely so. If any man addresses me, No matter who that man may be, ,1 always say,'twixt man and man, " This man's a man—you nu'oratan'. i
