The mouth of the Mmdi River is now approved as tho ontrance on the Atlantic and tho Hio Grande ontranco on this side will, it is said, bo abandoned for ttie small imy on the north cido of the city, where tho Panama Kailroad wharf is situated. On the Atlantic side a saving in distance of somo eeven kilometres is elt'ected by the change proposed The Geological Bureau reports a greater nnd more uniform depth of earth alon« tho entire lino than was supposed to exist, or than has been discovered in previous Burvoys Tho remit of the surveys so far ha'> been very satisfactory. Houses havo arrived from Now Orleans and Now York, and will be erected at different points on tho line for tho use of workmen, to servo aa hospitals, etc.
