Move Wots in, Ireland. LONDON, May 28. News is to hand from Ireland that serious riots have occurred at Mitchelstown, iv Couuty Cork. Twelve thousand (sic) peasants assembled there to oppose the service of writs tor the ejectment of some tenants, and upon the police arriving on the scene fighting of a vciy severe character took place. Alter much bloodshed on both sides, the rioters were dispersed, and evictions of tenants were liualiy completed.
At the wool sale to-day 8,900 bales were oflered. The tone of the auction was firm. TRICKETT GOES TO AMERICA. Trickett and Kelly (his trainer) have started for New York. LAND LEAGUE AGITATION. The Irish Land League is daily increasing its agitation through the country, and is showing that it will oppose any attempt to prohibit its meetings. ) GAMBKTTA PACIFIC. PARIS, May 28. Gambetta rnadj a speech to-day, in the course of which he counselled a pacilic policy, and said that order and peace were a necessity for the well-being of France, and should by be rigidly maintained. THE AMIR AND AYI/JJ KHAN. CALCUTTA, May 28. Telegrams are to hand from Kandahar, stating that lighting lias taken place at liirisk, between bodies of the tolloweis of Amir Abdul Rahman and Ayub Khan. The latter is reported to be still at Herat. IRREGULARITIES IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA. LONDON, May 27. In the House of Commons to-day, a question was put to the Under-Soerctary of State for the Colonies regarding the information which has transpired as to certain expenditure incurred by the Treasurer and Cont!oiler of Revenue in Western Australia without due authority. h\ reply, Mr Grant Dull'said the circumstances connected with the unauthorised payments have been under the consideration of the Government, and instructions would be sent to the Governor of that colony with the view to prevent any further irregularities in the expenditure of public money by the Treasurer.
WOOL SALE.
LONDON, May 27.
At the wool auction to-day, 9000 bales were oll'ereil. The tone of the sales was strong, inferior and faulty wools of all kinds were leas depressed, and there was some inquiry for cross-bred and scoured sorts.
