CHRISTCHURCH, this day.
Two small iires occurred yesterday. W. Stalk, farmer, of Ashhurton, dropped dead of heart disease while attending an auction sale. MAORI PRISONERS. Tho Hinemoa leaves Lyttolton on Friday with 100 Maori prisoners from here, and 100 from Dunedin. . Tho manufacture ot pulp for paper making, and the manufacture of dextrine has been commenced in the viciuity of Christchurch. SCHOLARSHIPS. The Board of Education will offer ten two years scholarships of £40 each per year for competition next June.
