NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE BUERS.
LONDON, March 10. IN the House of Commons to-night a question was put to the Premier regarding the armistice which has been declared between the Boers and British troopa in Transvaal. Mr Giadstono, in reply, said that although it had only been agreed to suspend hostilities for one week, it had been understood between Sir George Colloy ana the Boer Commander that a longer armistice could be proclaimed should the state of negotia. tions for peace render such necessary. SEIZUKE OF ARMS IN IRELAND. Information has been received to-day from Ireland, that an important seizure of military weapons, consisting of one hundred pikes, has been made by the police, (it Kanturk, in the Connty of Cork. MR PARNELL AND THE LIBERALS. Mr Parncll has issued a manifesto, in which ho exhorts the Irish voters in England to resist legislative measures ot the Liberals to the utmost, and to oppose the return of further members of the Party to Parliament. BASUTO WAR RESOMED. CAPETOWN, March 10. News is to hand to-day, from Basutoland, that negotiations for peace, which were proceeding between the Colonial Commander and Basutos having failed, tho armistic has now eutirely ceased, and hostilities between the two forces have been resumed. MORE ARRESTS IN IKELA.ND. LONDON, March 10. Several further nrrests of suspected persons have been made in Ireland under tho Coercion Act. AN ACCIDENT TO A N.Z. VESSEL. LONDOjn, March 10. The barquo Chaudiore, from Napier, which arrived off the coast on Monday, camo into collision yesterday with the Euphrates as she was coming up the < Channel. She suffered considerable damage, and shortly afterwards went ashore on the Goodwin aandH. She has, however, sinco been tugged off, and brought safely into dock. Tho Euphrates was but slightly injured. COMMERCIAL. LONDON, March 10. Consols are 09g. Adelaide and New Zealand brcadstuli's arc unchanged. The total reserve in notes and bullion iv the Bank of England is £17,625,000. The 5 per cent. Now Zealand 10-40 loan is 10JJ ; the 5 per cent. 1889 loan is 110 J. The best Australian leather is HJd per lb. There is but little inquiry for Australian hides, und the prices are Jd lower.
