Meeting Re the Patatere Block.

GKAHAMSTOWN, this day. A I'UHIJC meeting was held at tho Academy last evening for tho purpose of discussing the steps which it is stated tho Government intend taking regarding the Patetero Block. There was r. large attendauce, Mr James McGorrau in the chair. The following resolution, proposed by Dr. Kil^our, was carried, " That, on tue arrival of His . Excellency the Governor, Sir Arthur 'Gordon, a respectful address be presented asking him to retain tho proclamation over tho Patetere lands."—Mr McCullough moved, but failed to find a seconder, "That Messrs Wood, Mcllhone, and Dr. Kilgour be a committee to draw up tho address."—Mr Mcllhoue suggested that the chairman of the meeting communicate with the Government informing thorn of the icsolution which it was intended to present to the Governor. He moved a resolution to that effect—Mr Speight said he did not agree with the resolution just proposed by Mr Mcllhone. He did not think the resolution carried just now should bo forwarded to the Government; it should be presented to the Governor,—Mr Mcllhone said that was his intention.—After some discussion it was resolved, " That a committee be appoincd to draw up a memorial, and to request Sir George Grey to present it."
