A new drainage scheme has been propounded by Mr C. J. Stono for going another 100 feet. It has been submitted to the mines interested.
RuiiY. —Tho load is now down about 28 feet from the floor of tho drive. Tho reef is keeping a course parallel with it. The country has changed for tho better within tho last lew feet. A large quantity of water is issuing from the footwall, indicating the reef in that direction. VlOTOltlA.—Operations havo boon suspended in the low level for a day or two, tho men being required in the South Pacific section. An underhand slope is being brought along the floor of the old level. In that part of the working tho stuff being taken out is being saved for a trial crushing. It is also tho intention to make a trial crushing of the quartz taken from the reef in the low level.
The schooner Policeman, tho property of William Soutor of this town, has been purchased by Captain Champion, who intends to employ her in the island trade.
