Mount Eden District.
Mount Eden Koad is one of the most improving of our euburban districts. A few years ago were to be seen rugged wa»te ■ id and huge lagoons, while a one-horse ,' threaded its uneven, uninviting course roau .. ~l e mounta i n- Within the short 'sPace of" th>e years a great change has i.uln rilace A t>road trunk road has been The tolls have been abolished (except for heavy traffic) •1 he Mount Eden station L« tbe first un the ICaipara railway, being next Ration o .New. market, and in its vicinity num^ua villa residences have been erected. In? aiiention which property holders give their "rounds is worthy of notice. Well-painted 'outbuildings, gates, fences, • etc., lugtily cultivated and ornamental grounds speak eloquently of the confidence the owners ot property have in the future prosperity of this district. Within a chain or so of the Mount Eden Railway Station, and skirting the main road, is the private residence and wounds of Mr Bleazard. a his gentleman has demonstrated to perfection how capable the soil is to produce the greatest desired results In his hot house he has bun,ch t s of crapes which nurserymen say excel anything of the kind they have ever seen. We have not seen their equal. There are bunches which must weigh four or nve pounds each, if any vine grower can come anywhere near this let him send a sample to this office that we may adjudicate tnereon. Mr Bleazard has between one and two acres of ground, a large portion of this is devoted to the purpose of a lawn, the latter was once a rough quarry but is now fairly redeemed from its ugliness, round the lawn are rows of rare plants and fljwers in firstclass older. At the back of the lawn is a conservatory. Preparations for a second Lot-house are here being made, the young vines are planted, and the ground is _beii,g thoroughly predared,it being the proprietor's intention to have a hot-house for early vines, and a distinct one for later varieties. The style in which these grounds arc kept reflect great credit upon the cultivated taste ot the owner. At the present a large number of villa residences are in progress, and the demand for land in the neighbourhood is great. Mr Carly, the owner of the block of land adjoining the station on the town side, has had it surveyed and it is now open for selection. This land has a frontage to Mount Eden road, and also to another thoroughfare, iind will no doubt be quickly taken up, The Mount Eden road is becoming quite a popular drive, and every tine day numbers of carriages may be seen traversing the mountain road, the occupants enjoying the .unrivalled scenery find tempered breeze. The volcanic soil of this district is of course very conducive to health, and has led to many persons taking up their Abode in the .neighbourhood.
