An on dit iv the lobbies is to the effect that, if the debate on finance (is resumed this evcuing, Mr Ballance wUI move a vote of want of confidence.
The House sat till a quarter to live this morning. It does not meet till half-past seven to-night.
. No Public Works Statemeut will be made to-night. A stroug debate on finance is expected.
FOREIGN VESSELS IN THE COAST.
ING TRADE.
Mr Moss has given notice, to move on going into Committee of Supply that, "In the opinion of this House, it is desirable that Foreign vessels arriving in New Zealaud ports should not be allowed to engage in the coasting trade, but should be confined to the discharge of their original cargo at such port or ports as they may desire, and to loading at such port or ports of cargo for British or Foreign ports. That the Coasting Trade Regulation Act, 1871, should iiß amended accordingly." GRAMMAR SCHOOL BUILDING. Also, on going into Committee of Supply, that a respectful address be presented to the Governor asking him to phice on tho estimates a sum of £4,000 necessary to complete the building for tho Auckland College and Grammar School.
