The officers and men ot the Naval Brigade desire to thank those who (supposing the Naval Brigade ;were in need of assistance), on the evening ot the 17th instant, did not wait for a i signal of distress, or any cry for help, but promptly came in boats to give what assistance . they could. The officers, being engaged in restoring quiet (and devising the boat thing to ba done under the circumstances, did not notice all thoso who (they hear) .came to the rescue, and therefore did not thank them as they would have done.
