The Division.
THE LATEST TIP.
WELLINGTON, this afternoon.
My latest tip as to the result of the division is that it will be decided iv favour of the Govcrnmeut by the casting vote of the Speaker. It is to be hoped that afterwards tho time of the couutry will not be wasted in sellish party struggles, but that the House will settle down to real work. It is believed that if the Government weather this gale many new members, who have been pushed into the present course, will be disgusted with mere party warfare. The debate will probably bo prolonged till Wednesday. MR SPEIGHT'S SPEECH. Mr Speight will speak for about au hour to-day ou the no-Confidence Motion, and is expected will direct his remarks to Messrs j Hall and Saunders' political antecedcnts,in order to show the hypocrisy of their professions of sympathy with a Liberal policy. Humoured Retirement of tlie Premier. Oft dit, that Sir George Grey -will retire, Mr Macandrcw becoming Premier, and Mr Ballance Treasurer. Mr Pyke's vote has been secured by the Government. The Opposition had a deputation to the number ot twenty prepared to meet Mr Pyke on arrival, with a carriage aud pair, but Mr Ballance got hold of him, and marched him olf" in triumph, to the intense disgust of Messrs McLean aud Hall.
