Great Ebor Handicap. LONDON. August 27. The great Ebor Handicap, distance two miles, was won. by Isouomy, Templar second, aud Seringa third. The heavy rain is ruining the harvests. Sir Kowland Hill, the inventor of the penny postage system, is dead. Emigration to Texas. LONDON. August 27. Many emigration schemes are proposed iv consequcuce of the prevailing depression aud the prospects of further bad times in view of the damage to the harvests. Eighty Yorkshire farmers have realised their properties aud emigrated to Texas to seek homes there.
