MR SEABANCKE'S LIBEL.
Mr Searancl.e, late R.M. at Hamilton, has to day served a writ and declaration on the proprietors of tiie " Hawke's Bay Herald" and " Wairoa Free Press."
W. B. Williams, an elderly man, living at Newton, and subject to fits, fell dead in his garden. The Einemoa has arrived from Napier and the North, bringing thirty native recrnitsfor the Armed Constabulary, all picked up between Poverty Bay and the East Cape. They are all young able-bodied men. Many of them served before. The Hiuemoa leaves to-morrow for Opu. nake with stores for the Constabulary. She will leave Opunake direct for Dunedin to bring back the Premier. Several parcels of land have been tempor. aily reserved iv the District of Auckland. The Municipal Police Act, ISGC, and the Amendment Act of 1574, have come into force in the Borough of Parnell. GAZETTE NOTICES. The following appointments are gazetted: —K. L. Busk, R.M. Judge of Assessment Court, County of Raglan; L. A. i'urrier, auditor, for County of Coromandel; J. Keddell, K.M., Judge of Assessment Court; The services of the Coromaudel Rifle Volunteers has been accepted.
