At tho request o( the Party, and with the consent of many of my supporters for Waitemata, 1 have agreed to withdraw from my candidature for that constituency, and now seek the honour of representing you in the next Parliament. In withdrawing from tho contest for a District in which I myself reside, and for the honour of representing which I had the very best assurance of success, I have been solely influenced by a desire to assist the party in securing tho return of as many members as possible pledged to support our common interesis. I havo no doubt you have all seen my' published addresses to tho Waitemata Klectors. It is, therefore, unnecessary that I should repeat my profession of political faith, especially as opportunities of explaining my views to you personally will aviso. I am. Your obadicnt Servant, W. Gentlemen,—At tho request of a large number of Electors, I beg to offer myself as a Candidate, in tho Liberal interest, for your suffrages in tho ensuing Election. I am a staunch supporter of Sir Georgo Grey and tho policy enunciated by him. I am in favour of maintaining intact our present system of Freo Secular Education, and also of obtaining for this province Additional Endowments and Grants to enable tho Grammar and High Schools to bo made free also, and plaoo the advantages of Uighor Education more readily within tho reach of all classes of the people. I am strongly in favour of fostering Local Industries and Productions, and will support any measure which will tend to promote their establishment and prosperity by shielding them against excessive foreign competition, I have had an extensive experience in industrial pursuits in various parts of the Empire, and am convinced that in a new Colony it is absolutely necessary, to secure iuternal prosperity, that tho industries of the inhabitants should be udiciously protected. I am also firmly opposed to allowing the Chinese to obtain a footing in this Colony. If elected, I shall bo always found advocating tho sinking of petty diiEerences among the Auckland members, with a view to a united and determined cfl'ort under our loader to secure justice for this hitherto uegleoted portion of the Colony. ROBERT MOZLKY STARK, mo THE ELECTORS OF THE WAIKATO DISTRICT. Gentlemen,— I bog to announce that I am a Candidate to represent this District in the Liboral interests. I think that the Government which has brought down a comprehensive Liborul Policy sujh as has been enuu ciatcd in tho Governor's speech ought to bo allowed an opportunity oJ! carrying that Policy into effect.
