Special Advertisements. mo THE ELECTORS OF AUCKLAND CITY EAST. Gentlemen,—As my views on many of the important questions now before tho public have neveriieen declared, I think it right in soliciting your suffrages at once, though briefly to give an indication ot what my opinions aro on some of those questions, leaving a moro complete exposition to the time when I hope to have tho pleasure of meeting you face to face. Should you do mo the honour of selecting mo as your Representative, I shall ondeavour to soeure a moro equitable distribution of Loans for Immigration and Publio Works, and for Auckland some compensation for post injustice also, a division of grants for school buildings in proportion to the necessities of odueational districts rather than on tho basis of population. I conaidor that tho Native Department should either bo abolished, or much reduced. That tho Land Purcliaso Department should be entirely abolished after completing some of the most important purchases now in progress, after which the Government should puroliase no land for revenue purposes. That every fncllity should be afforded to Natives, by advancing tho necessary funds end otherwise, to have their land surveyed aud their titles individualised. That ample reserves should be madofortho Notives, and that tho remainder be sold or leased by auction through tho Waste Lands Board of the District, at tho request of tho Nativo owners, and offered at such upset price as may in each caso bo fixed by them. That an ad valorem duty on every first disposal of such land* bo paid by the purchaser or lessee, in consideration of valuo given to such lauds by immigration and p _blic works. I am opposed to tho proposal to abolish multi pie voting at Local Elections, and to the Maor dual vote. I approvo of tho present .system of scoular education; of imposing a tax upon uncultivated land held for speculative purposes; of rating Government unoccupied land for local works; of promoting tho settlement of tho country by selling Government lands on the system of deferred payments and occupation ; of manhood suffrage, with a residential qualification; of sending members of tho Houbo to their constituencies, when thoy join a Ministry ; of Triennial Parliamontß; of a member addressing his constituency during tbo recess, and resigning bis seat when ho finds that ho has ceased to represent them, I approvo of tho Auckland members of tho House of Representatives agreeing to sink oil minor differences consultirig together upon questions affecting tho interests of the North, and (unless in cases in which principle la involved) unitedly taking such action as tho majority may decide upon. "Not for a day, but for all time," has been written of Shakespeare, and in tho humbler ond less professional walks of life are the works of men destined to live as long a life. To the truly good thing there is no limit of existence, even when the author dieshis moritorlous deeds survive biro, end pass on through the endless generations that follow him. It has been years since the world ilrat heord of Udolpho Wolfe's Schiedam Aromatic Schnapps, and to-day Its virtues ore as fresh, and its fome os unclouded as when it first flashed into public notice.
