Evening Stak Office, Friday. AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET.
Mr Alfred Buckland reports: At the Hay market, on Friday last, fodder was plentiful and at last week's values. A limited quantity of hides and skmsjnetiwith good competition at lato values. AtDrury, on Wednesday, there was a i full muster of cattle, and a numerous attendance. Business was proceeded with under difficulties, tho greater number present being engaged iv political discussions, and the few who attended to the sale bought their cattle easier than for sometime. At Remnera, on Thursday, dairy cows at profit were plentifuL Several remained unsold, and prices were lower about 20s each. Store cattle in average number and brisk inquiry, particularly well-bred steers. Fat cattle in usual number, 120 head yarded. Prices were lower than last woek about 3b the lOOibs., and ranged from 27s to 30s. Sheep in full numbers and of irregular quality. Prices varied from 2d for inferior to 2Jd lor good quality. Pigs were without alteration in value. . t MESSRS HUNTER AND NOLAN'S REPORT. , The cattle market has continued active, ahd there was a good muster for sale by auction. Bidding was brisk for all descriptions, with the exception of fat beasts, for which it was slow, Bnd prioesreduced a little, 32s 63 per lOOibs. being tho top prica, and well-fatted sold at 30s. We quote : Dairy cows, from £8 6a to £11 7s 6d; weaned calves. 35s to 60s; yearling steers, from i£2l7s 6d to£3 7s6d ; two-j ear-old steers, £5 to £5 12s 6d; threa-ye\r-olds, £5 17s 6d to £7155; two-year-old heifers, £1 to £5 10s; store cows, £3 7s 6d to £5 10a. Sheep.—There has been « good supply and steady demand for well-fatted, but those not sufllclently up in condition were difficult to dispose of at prices satisfactory to the vendor ; 2s per 81bs. was barely reached for the best pens, and Is Gd for inferior. Pigs were in largo supply, aud sold readily at 2Jd to 3d per lb„ live woight.
[By Telegraph.] DONEDur, Thursday. Fat Cattle.—Prima beef. 30s per lOUlbs; medium, 25s to 27a Gd; mutton, 21s id. per lb. The news from Home and the colonies continues unsatisfactory. There is no disposition on the part ot buyers to speculate largely. Oats show no improvement in prices. Good feed are saleable at 2s; milling, 2s 2d to 2a 3d; barley.no inquiries. Samples of good malting are scarce, and could be placed at from 5s to 5s Gd for flratCnRisTCHUKCH, Thursday. The Canterbury Corn Kxcharge report states that business during the week was unimportant. Wheat is pretty firm at last quotation; holders are still looking for a slight advance. Good clean Tuscan (for seed), 53; good milling, 4s Gd ; inferior milling, Is to is 3d; ebick who -t, 3s6dtols7d. Oats fair business: Feed, free of sale at 2s 7d to 2s Sd; seed, 2s 9d to 2s lOd; good milling, 2s 8d to 2s 9d. Barley: Prime malting samples aro exceedingly scarce, and prices aro readily obtainable for first quality at Cs; medium, is Gd to 5s Gd ; feed. 2s Gd to 3s 6d. Potatoes: Prices aro Btcady with an upward tend»ncy. BlueDerwent is free of sale at £3 10s; bags. 6s 6d; kidnoy, £9 to £10. Grass seed is in demand improved: Pino class (town dressed), 5s Gd to 53 Ud; farmers (cleaned), 4s 6d to ss. Cheeso, Gd to Old: butter, 9d per lb.
