Kace Course, Wednesday, Turf Club Handicap, of lOOsovs; 2 miles; nomination 2 soys, acceptance 5 soys. Yatapa led at the start and retained the lead up ihe straight. At the turning the horses all got in a cluster. Malvern made a grand rush through the field, and led to the turn. There was an evident struggle for first place past the stand, Gillie pressing Malvernhard. Flirthera shot out, and Gillie dropped to third place; Memento a good third. The flna\ turn round was most excitng. Whips were freely used, and the race home between Gillie and Flirt left the former "winner alruo*t on the post. Time, 3mins. 52secs. ~,»„,.,. -, Bettin^-Waikato people backed Flirt and Memento heavily againsc the Auckland horse. WaikAto Stakes, of2oaovs; H miles; welter weight for age; 5 soys out of stakes to go to second horse. Horaea to be foronemonth previous to advertisement the bona fide property of a Waikato resident. Rally 1 Memento.. .. — ■• * Willi'tm Martin rode Memento, and led off at top speed. Kally, ridden by W. Bond, collared the former, and ran a neck and neck race into the straight for the final struggle, Kally winning hy half a length. Robin Hood dropped back at half a mile. Time, 3min. losecs. Flying Stakes, of 20 soys; -J mile; weight for age; entrance, 30s. Walter's Colt 1 Skyiark 2 Barney .. .. .. ..3 Time, imin. 21secs.
Maoki Hack, of 10 soya; 1 mile heats; horses to be owned andridden by Maoris; post entry; entrance, 10s.
There were aeven entries. After a spirited contest this was won by Horokina'a Glover. The rider was a little boy named Totara. There was a large attendance, and great satisfaction was expressed by visitors. A large number of Cambridge people attended; indeed every district appeared well represented. There was a serious accident in the morning. A oart containing two men, three women and children, was back-d by ihe horse over a bridge into the water, bat by a miracle all escaped, wet and bruised.
