BOARD OF EDUCATION.

A full meeting of the Board of Education was held this aft-.rroon in the offices, "Wyndhamft'eet. Present: Dr. Campbell (chair), Colonel Hau'tain, Messrs Dargaville, Luke, May, Prime, and O'Rorke

Examination (December. 1878. —Tne report on the Examination for the District School Scholarships was brought up and read, statbgthat tho Committee had the honour to submit tli'-ir report on the Examination for District Scholarships, held in Auckland and at tho Thames, on the 18r,h, 19th, and 20th December last; that 88 candidate!* attended, 68 in Auckland and 20 at the Thames; of these 15 were girls—l 2 Auckland and 3 Thames—who came up for certificates of proficiency. Eleven Scholarships were advertised by the Board. The Committee recommended that a Scholarship be awarded to each of tho boys numbered from 1 to 11 exclusive in the list, appended, and that a certificate of proficiency be awarded to the boy numbered 12, who obtained half-marks in each Of the prescribed subjects.
