AMUSEMENTS,

Thicatrk Royal.—Ma'iame Cora, Val Vose, and Company appeared at the Thca'tro Royal last night. The building was well filled, and the company highly appreciated tho entertainment provided. A largo number of valuable presents were distributed amongst the audience.

Tiik Circus.—The Circus was crowded last night to witness the new programme, in which was included "Shaw, the Life Guardsman," and the spectacle of •■ Tin pin's Ride to York ;" the former act is new to an Auckland audience, but Turpin. has been played here several times, and more recently by the last Circus Company, Mr Burton's; but we do not think that anyone of the Turpins wo have s ;en in Auckland is to be compared with the ono played last night The characters were faithfully pourtrayed, and the mare i% without doubt, the best trained one we have ever seen. Mr Hayes played the part of Turpin, and Benhamo that of Sammy. The t >xt was adhered to strictly, and the riding and other business attached was faithfully carried out. The remainder of tho characters were well supported by the company; and a word of praise is due to Mr Lewis for the Beadle; also, to Mias Olemintina for playing Dolly. Mr Hayes as Shaw, the Life Guardsman, made quite a hit. He well earned tho rounds of applause for the manner in which he went through the act; it is quite a novelty in horsemanship. Tho remainder of the- programme was filled up with new asts, and we think that this ia the best programme yet offered by this troupe. The same programme will be repeated this evening. We notice that the prices of admission are reduced to Is, 2s 6d, and 4s.
