Attempts have been made to blow up a bakery at Colac, by placing a quantity of gunpowder in an oven. A boy was a good deal injured, and it is feared lie will lose his sight. It is reported from Alexandra th:it the Kelly's have been located iv a lint i>n the Switzerland ranges, ami that the police have been travelling _a_ few miles from them. It is said this is coniirmed by the fact that four horsemen have been seen galloping before daylight towards Alexandria, aud within eight miles of the township. The female attiro sometimes refeired to is accounted for as having been worn by Steve Hat t, who is in. the habit of coming into the township so attired. The " Argus" is sending home a special commissioner to accompany the Embassy. ADELAIDE. The man Gallagher has been committed for trial for setting fire to a house. The evidence showed that he made improper proposals to a woman while her husband was away, and being refused, set fire to the house out of revenge. IRISH HAKP V. UNION JACK. A disturbance occurred at the Catholic picnic, Wallaroo, owing to the Irish harp being carried in front of the Union Jack. The Mayor of Kadiua thinking the act illegal remonstrated. The police subsequently interfered, and roughly used one Casford, who lost the use of speech some time since, and he is again dumb, it is supposed from excitement and drink. NEWCASTLE. § A DRUNKEN OUTRAGE. Henry Augustus Scott, a half-caste, shot a man in a drunken quarrel at the Shipwrights Arms. The crew of the La Perouse were picked up in an open boat. They were barely able to save their clothes when the ssel foundered.
