SERIOUS EXPRESS ACCIDENT.
About half-past six last night Mr Jni, Simes expressman, met with a mißfortn of rather a serious nature. He was enga»f on business in Abercronibie-stree't aad hA backed his cart, which had lamps-iightS"-close to the kerb, having first put the chai on as the by-laws require, and maM^ everything secure. Whilst ii e waTr an adjoining house fetching out sorn luggage the vehicle of a miiwj* named Brady, ran into his horsed started ib off. The frightened' animri bolted down Wakefield-street and W Queen-street, smashing the verandah of Mr Smith, fruiterer. When at last' it tog stopped the cart was irretrievably injuredr and the horse so severely cut that:.it< Jm< scarcely work again. The damagefdo&e altogether is estimated at about £30 the whole of which sum Mr Simes ■will' p to bably have to pay through no fault $ ]fo own.
