(FROM OUR SPECIAL LONDON CORRESPONDENT.) Austrian Occupation of Herzegovina. Italy Refuses Albania and Demands Trieste. Turkish Support "Withdrawn.
LONDON, August 15th.In view of the Austrian occupation of Herzegovina agitation continues. Oorti and Crispi are commended to Italy for the rectification of the frontier. Albania has been offered to Italy, but has been lefused. A demand has been made for Trieste, and Austrian Peninsula. The Turkish officials are unable to maintain order. The Canea (?) Christians arc threatened, and two Turkish men-of-war, and English and French gunboats, have entered the harbour to prevent an outbreak. Prince Bismarck sent an ultimatum to the effect that Turkey must comply with the Berlin Treaty, and withdraw support from the Bosnian Insurgents. Turkey is yielding. Their is hard fighting in Bosnia. LONDON, August 16. The Queen's Speech, on the prorogation of Parliament, states that the peace is satisfactory, and likely to be durable, and that British independence has been secured against aggression.
