A man named De Lane,1 who was seriously injured in an accident up 'the Kaipara some years ago, and is now one of the Government pensioners at Freeman's Bay, desires through the columns of the Star to thank Mr Wade for supplying him with a much-needed pair of boots. Previously to getting them he was obliged; though very wfealc and infirm, to go barefooted, being * unable' to wear 'the heavy clogs supplied by the Government without suffering great pain. Our readers will remember that the " Waterloo veteran "is also a resident of the Freeman's Bay cottage. Any trifling comforts in the way clothing, tobacco, or food would be' 'much appreciated by these poor suffering men.
