THE WAIPA NOMINATION.

HAMILTON, this day. John Fisher, of Pukenmu, proposed Mr Whitaker in a good speech in favour of the policy of the present Governmet. He said Mr Whitaker was pledged, as far as man ought to be, to support the Government progressive measures. Mr Seddon seconded in brief remarks.
Mr Gordon Tisdall proposed Mr McMiun, and asked the electors votes af a supporter of the Government, and self-sacrificing man.
Mr Kuthwell seconded,
Mr Whitaker drew attention to what he characterised as disgraceful squibs, but exonerated Mr McMinn srom blame in publishing them. He had found an honourable opponent. He defended the dublic oilicers aud others against anonymous attacos. Mr McMinn defended himself against the charge of stealing a march at last Monday's meeting. The show of hands was in favour of Mr Whitaker. A poll was demanded on behalf ef Mr McMinn About forty persons were present.
