We have perused a number of testimonials from old and respectable colonists, which have been handed to us by the proprietor of " Ghollah's Great Indian Cures," who is, we understand, intending to remain among ns for about a month, for the purpose of proving the virtue of his medicines, by the cure of any serious cases of rheumatism or gout that may be brought under his notice. The testimonials are certainly very extraordinary, inasmuch as they are from persons who had been seriously ill for a number of years, and got completely cured by the use of these medicines.
The police of Dunedin have been busy in obtaining samples of Kerosene from dealers in the city and surrounding districts, with the view of forwarding them to the Government for analytical examination. The " Dunedin Times " of Tuesday, in referring to the administration of justice in the Resident Magistrate's Court, states that a feeling prevails that members of the bar, who are not in connection by ties of relationship or otherwise to Mr 13n,thgate cannot gain the ear of the Court, or in other words cannot meet with justice, and that, consequently most cases were set down for hearing on the day on -which Mr Mansford sits. Mr Mansford accordingly felt it to he his duty to refer to this charge in the "Times'" article, and said that his usefulness as a magistrate was likely to be impared by such assertions. He had always endeavoured to favour the right, by taking all possible precautions against partiality being associated with the administration of justice. He was enabled, by carefullytaken notes to challenge enquiry into every official act of his life. The safeguard and purity of that Court was the power of appeal, and, further, any of the person aggrieved had the privilege of laying these grievances before the Minister of Jus tije.
