POLICE COURT.— THIS DAY.
(Before E. Isaacs Esq., Justice of i-he Peace.) DRUNKENNESS. Ulan Bishop was fined 5s for being du in k on Saturday, and Mary (native), Mi a ia McGuinness, and John^f. Isaac, 10s ea c h, being Sunday cases. ' SLEEPING OUT. Henry Burns, a miserable looking you ng man, was charged under the Vagrant -Vet with being in the Government grounds, on the night of the 21st inst. Prisoner pleaded guilty ; he only turned in for a nap ; he would not do it again. Mr Isaacs commented upon the case a„ n d said that persons could not be permitted to creep into people's places for shelter, which might lead to destruction of property, but as prisonet had expressed his regret henn-rht bo discharged. , Prisoner bowed his head and passed < )U t of the Court.
CAUGHT AGAIN. William Hyde, alias Clarkson, was brought up on a charge of stealing a basket a n d eleven bottles of spirits, value 30s, the pi-o-perty of Messrs Ryan and Bell, of Vulcan Lane, on the 20th inst. The prisoner was an old offender, and as there were other charges against him, Sergeant-Major Mason asked for a remand. Remanded until to-morrow. SAVAGE ASSAULT.
Hugh McCarthy was summoned to answer to a charge of maliciously wounding his wife, Catherine, on the head with a baby's chair, on the night of the 13th inst. Remanded until Wednesday next.
