LADIES BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.
We would remind those who take "an active interest in the benevolent and charitable organizations of the city that the annual meeting of tho Ladies' Benevolent Society will be held this evening at half-past seven o'clock in the public room of the Young Men's Christian Association. Mr Justice Gillies will preside, and the proceedings are expected to be invested with more than ordinary interest. Miss Yaughan, Mr Brett, and Professor Swallow, and many other lady and gentlemen amateurs will enliven the proceedings with suitable vocal and instrumental selections, and several prominent public men will participate in the proceedings. We need not here allude at length to the selfsacriflce and solicitude for the welfare of poor and suffering humanity which distinguishes the ladies of this Society nor to the great claims which they have upon the sympathy, moral support, and practical assistance of the people.
