The Union Beach is crushing specimens to-day, and a large yield is anticipated. > The Corby is getting out very rich specimens from the new leader cut in the loav level last night. The Tokatea got 46 ozb of gold from a crushing to-day. The Phoenix cutter leaves on Monday night. At a meeting of Tokatea directors to-day it Avas decided to send instructions to get rock drill from California. No more tributes will be let. Its company intend putting men on the surface prospect, and continuing them there. THE PREMIER ASKED TO VISIT COROMANDEL. Mr Geo. McLeod forAvarded a telegram to Sir George Grey to-day, soliciting him ou behalf of the inhabitants here to come down, as there Avere many things deserving of his consideration. CAMBRIDGE, this day. RAID ON YANKEE GRABBERS. At the R.M. Court to-day, nine publicans Avere fined 40s each for permitting " Yankee grab " to be played in their licensed houses. There Avas heavy south east weather last night, and about six o'clock this morning the brig Craig Ellachie parted both her cables and Avent ashore. Those on board got ashore all right. KATE MCGREGOR DRAGGING ANCHORS. The Kate McGregor is dragging her anchors rapidly towards the beach. Wheat is quoted at 4s to ss; oats, 3s to 4s; barley, 3s 6d to 4s ; potatoes, 30s. The heavy fall of rain is most beneficial, all the wells and tanks being mostly dry. CHRISTCHURCH, this day. COLORADO BEETLES IN CANTERBURY. The conversion of the gauge on the north line is completed, and trains are running as usual. It is reported that the Colorado beetle has been found in _avo places in South Canterbury. THE OPERA COMPANY. The Italian Opera Company produced Verdi's opera of "Aida" for the benefit of Signora Guadaquini to a crowded house. The actual recepts are said to be over £200. NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. MR SHEEHAN'S VISIT. The Hon. J. Sheehan is on his way up to Auckland by the Wellington. He came ashore here. The steamer leaves at 5 o'clock.
